Casey Weinberg Florance's practice of family law is distinguished by her unique understanding and compassion for her clients and the issues they face as they wade through the stressful and often unpredictable process of dissolving a marriage. Raised by divorced parents in two different households, Casey is keenly aware of and sensitive to both the emotional underpinnings as well as the logistical realities of separation, divorce and custody disputes. She listens to her clients, understands their perspectives and helps them anticipate issues and identify both their short- and long-term goals. She works closely with her clients to help them develop practical, creative and cost-effective strategies for attaining those goals.

Knowledgeable, responsive and energetic, Casey has extensive experience handling all family law issues that arise, from negotiation and drafting of separation agreements, through litigating contested divorce and custody cases. She practices across Maryland and handles complex custody and access disputes, sophisticated property distribution and business valuation issues, alimony and child support matters, post-judgment modification and enforcement cases, domestic violence matters, adoptions, pre- and post-nuptial agreements and appellate advocacy.

Casey understands that no two cases are the same; there are no successful cookie-cutter approaches in life or in family law. She takes seriously her obligation as both an attorney and a counselor at law, and takes time to ensure her clients understand their options. Casey is at her best when guiding her clients through the daily issues of their cases, and when counseling clients as they make important decisions that will have a long-term impact on their and their children's lives. Although adept at representing clients in mediation and negotiation, when the need arises Casey is also a successful litigator. She has been recognized by Maryland Super Lawyers magazine as a Rising Star (2012-2017).

Casey believes that lawyers have an obligation to serve their community beyond the practice of law. She is an active member of the Bar Association of Montgomery County, and is routinely appointed to leadership positions. Most recently, she has served as co-chair of the New Practitioner’s Section and co-chair of the Association’s annual Special Olympics project, the Inspiration Walk. Currently, she serves as co-chair of the Family Law Section and co-chair of the Leadership Development Committee. She has been recognized for her service, receiving several awards from the Bar Association. Casey also organizes many of Stein Sperling’s charitable pursuits, including regular volunteer efforts at Manna Food Bank and firm-wide holiday Toys for Tots collections. She also serves the community by presenting educational programs regarding separation, divorce and custody around Montgomery County.
Casey grew up locally; in her spare time, she enjoys sports, cooking and travelling with her husband.
