Ruling to Come on the Constitutionality of Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act

On June 28, 2012, the Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, President Obama's health care law, under Congress' power to levy taxes. The health care law will continue as planned with parts being phased in over the next few years. Starting in 2014, almost all Americans will be required to have health insurance or be faced with a fine. Most employers will likewise face a fine if they do not offer coverage for their employees. This law will continue to be a subject of debate over time as Congress will still maintain the power to make changes to this law.
