Often a tax attorney will set up a collection alternative for a taxpayer after the audit is completed and the taxpayer receives a balance due notice from the IRS.

Collection alternatives include:

  • Offers in compromise;
  • Installment agreements;
  • Temporary non-collection status; and
  • Extension of time to pay.

Where is the IRS caller ID number? The IRS caller identification number is listed on the top right corner of an IRS collection notice.
