Robert J. Garagiola
Understanding his clients’ businesses and finding solutions to address their needs is Robert Garagiola’s approach to practicing law. He believes that each matter poses unique issues and circumstances that deserve thorough and creative thinking. Rob strives to provide each client an exceptional value through his involvement in their case. Often, this means getting to know clients beyond their immediate concerns so he can proactively pursue their overall best interests.
Rob focuses his practice on entity organization and governance, commercial transactions and business disputes. He also negotiates and drafts buy-sell, shareholder and operating agreements, as well as stock purchase agreements, commercial leases, employment agreements and other various contracts. Rob has represented many start-up and emerging companies, as well as long-standing businesses and associations.
Rob was elected to the Maryland Senate in 2002 and is currently its Majority Leader. He serves as Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee’s Health Subcommittee and as Senate Chairman of the Joint Committee on Healthcare Financing and Delivery. In addition, he serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the BlackRock Center for the Arts in Germantown, Maryland.
Outside the firm, Rob enjoys reading multiple books at the same time, particularly history and biographies. He also enjoys running, swimming, and other exercise, as well as home improvement projects. On weekends, he is often found cheering at one of his children’s sports games or barbecuing something on the grill, even in the winter.
