A welcoming, comfortable and supportive environment not only puts Fred Balkin’s clients at ease in often stressful situations, but it underlies his responsive and personal approach to successfully resolving their personal injury matters.
Fred emphasizes consistent client contact and a one-on-one approach in order to develop strategies that help provide clients with the best possible outcomes in claims involving auto accidents, industrial accidents, premises liability and medical malpractice. Additionally, his expertise in the medical aspects of injury law has helped him successfully resolve cases involving brain damage, serious injury and death claims, where complex issues of medicine and insurance coverage can arise.
Creativity is another hallmark of Fred’s practice. His innovative use of client video documentaries to help better communicate his clients’ cases to the insurance companies has led to a number of substantial settlements. Also, Fred’s videos have been repeatedly recognized by insurance claims adjustors for their effectiveness, with one of his settlement videos winning a Telly award for Best Documentary.
Fred speaks frequently on various insurance industry-related topics, and he is regularly called upon to consult with other attorneys and law firms due to his advanced knowledge of tort and insurance law. In 2011, Fred was appointed to the Peer Review Committee for the Attorney Grievance Commission of Maryland. Additionally, Fred is certified as a mediator and expert in alternative dispute resolution.
Outside of the firm, Fred is an active member of the community. He has been recognized for his pro bono work and helps organize numerous charitable events each year. In addition to collecting fine art and antiques, Fred maintains a collection of vintage cars and is the president of a local classic car club.
