Alexia Kent McClure
Alexia Kent McClure’s favorite cases are those where she can help clients surmount formidable challenges. Alexia’s focus on ensuring her clients are “on the right side of a good lawyer” is reflected in her passion for and relentless pursuit of her clients’ interests, as well as in her drive to achieve the best results possible.
With a practice concentrated primarily on commercial litigation, including business and contract matters and disputes, Alexia represents a broad range of commercial, non-profit and private clients. Her commercial litigation experience runs the gamut from complex fraudulent investment schemes to high-profile sexual harassment cases against large companies. Alexia also has particular depth of experience with the complex challenges associated with electronic or e-discovery.
In addition to her successful commercial litigation practice, Alexia also serves as outside general counsel to organizations with a national presence. In that role, she assists them in updating their governance and business documents and practices to better protect them against various economic and legal challenges. Using a team approach, Alexia works closely with each organization’s core leadership to assure compliance with new and changing laws, which helps preserve and continue their growth and prosperity.
Various business organizations and conferences throughout the region have engaged Alexia to speak on contract and employment issues. She also has spoken to professional audiences, including business transaction and trial attorneys, regarding a variety of contract drafting pitfalls to recognize and avoid.
Outside the firm, Alexia embodies Stein Sperling’s commitment to the community. She has a passion for working with young people, and for several years has served on the Board of Directors for The First Tee of Montgomery County, a non-profit that provides children and teens character education through the game of golf. She also co-chairs the organization’s development committee. In addition, for many years Alexia has volunteered to judge the annual Maryland State High School Mock Trial competition at the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, Maryland.
An avid triathlete, Alexia puts her athletic endeavors to work helping others as well. She is a five-time finisher of the Iron Girl Triathlon, racing in 2010 to benefit The Women’s Giving Circle of Howard County (WGC), which supports women and girls in the county. Alexia also competed in and finished the St. Anthony’s Olympic distance triathlon two years in a row, personally raising thousands of dollars for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
